Gah the hypocrisy!!

There is no hypocrisy in dressing how you want and being displeased at being treated like shit. If I bully you, when you get upset do I get to tell you you’re a hypocrite because you are the one who chose to go out in public? You are the one who wore that hat, that skirt, that jacket, so it’s hypocritical to be insulted when I call you names or tell you what to do or insist that you please me, because you should just know the feelings of a total stranger and accomodate them always! Seriously, do you know what objectification means? It means literally treating someone like an object, controlling them and treating them like they have no thoughts, needs or feelings of their own. If you think that’s okay to do just because of someone’s outfit, just a heads up you may be a serial killer.

That last sentence, though. Yes.

Why does it matter though, if a stranger objectifies you? Because the objectification that this picture is portraying is not that of a woman oppressed by a man, it’s of a girl dressing questionably and having people judge her based on it. How many times have you gone to a movie because the lead actor is attractive? Or been walking down the street and checked someone out yourself? Definitely on a first glance at a guy, you as a female are not thinking “Golly gee, is he ever attractive, but more importantly than that, he definitely is a good person at heart. I bet he’s educated and goal oriented. What a swell, well-rounded individual!” How many times have you gone to a beach or a swimming pool and noticed the way a male looked? Women objectify men just as much as men objectify women, perhaps not as openly, but does that make it any less objectifying? Just because you’re not aware that something is happening, doesn’t mean it’s not going on. Furthermore, if you want to dress any way you like, but get offended because of the way that you are judged upon your appearance, you sure as hell better not do it to any demographic. Period. See a guy wearing an Ed Hardy t-shirt, sporting a fake tan and a blow-out? Better not think to yourself that he’s a douche bag!
